Sorry for the terrible formatting, I had to transfer the pivot table onto here by taking 7 different screenshots from Excel.

Ideas for Midterm

  1. So I’m thinking for this idea would be to incorporate disability statistics comparing trends over time of screening, testing or diagnosis of certain conditions, and comparing that to trends over time of prevalence of given condition. It’s interesting to question whether or not certain conditions in our society are actually increasing in the population or if awareness and testing of the condition has increased and as a result we think the former of the two is the case. The data I likely will be using is from data.census.gov | here’s the link to the database: https://data.census.gov/cedsci/table?q=adhd&t=Disability&tid=ACSST1Y2019.S1810&hidePreview=true

2. For my second idea I want to analyze the country’s mental health, specifically with a focus on Anxiety and Depression, over the course of this pandemic. This data set from the CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/covid19/pulse/mental-health.htm shows an extensive survey that analyzes symptoms of both anxiety disorder and depression every week since April of 2020. I think I will be eventually comparing this with data generally showing the severity of the pandemic as it’s taken course over the past year, such as number of cases.
